We screened a montage at both Elstree Studios and the University of Hertfordshire in May, and then planned for a full public launch.
The launch, which took place on December 8th 2011, is the first phase in a gradual roll-out of content from this project, and took the form of a presentation of highlights from our interviews, as well as a montage of clips from films and television productions made at Elstree, a video commemorating the "First Impressions" event, and also a panel of three of our interviewees. With introductions and linking information from Paul Welsh MBE and Bob Redman, Elstree Screen Heritage, and Howard Berry, University of Hertfordshire — the co-founders of the project as well as representatives from the School of Creative Arts and the BECTU History Project. A DVD of the launch is available on request.
In October and November 2012, we launched the first Elstree Film Season in partnership with UHArts. This was a season of three films, made at Elstree, introduced by Paul Welsh and preceeded by new documentaries cut from interviews from the project archive.
